The project story
The covered patio and courtyard started as plain gray concrete. The finish was approved from a physical sample board before work began. The slab was cleaned and prepared, the large-format layout was set out across the space, and the surface was finished in charcoal ashlar slate.
Design takeaway
Large-format stones keep the pattern in scale with a big covered space, and the deep charcoal gives the patio a modern look against the red brick and stained wood posts. A darker color like this suits covered areas, where it stays out of direct sun.
