Flake Floor Care for Garages and Working Spaces

Clean grit and spills promptly, protect the finish from unnecessary abrasion, and watch high-traffic areas for changes.

A real DCOSL flake garage floor. Regular grit and spill removal helps protect a working surface.

Decorative flake floors are working surfaces. Garages, shops and service spaces collect sand, tires, tools, oils and everyday debris, so regular cleaning matters.

Remove abrasive grit

Sweep or vacuum sand and debris before wet cleaning. Repeatedly dragging grit across a finished floor can create unnecessary wear.

Clean spills promptly

Oil, grease and chemicals are easier to manage when addressed early. Remove the bulk of the spill first, then clean the affected area with a compatible cleaner.

Use non-aggressive cleaning tools

For routine washing, use a mop, soft brush or appropriate floor scrubber setup rather than assuming the most aggressive pad or chemical is better.

Protect concentrated loads

Sharp metal edges, dragging equipment and damaged casters can create localized wear. Lift or use suitable protection when moving heavy equipment instead of dragging it across the floor.

Watch traffic paths and transitions

Vehicle paths, doorways, work areas and transitions often show wear first. If the floor becomes harder to clean, develops localized damage or changes noticeably in sheen or texture, document the area before deciding on repair or maintenance.
