Concrete Countertop Care
Use cutting boards and trivets, clean spills promptly and maintain the protective finish according to the actual countertop system.

Concrete countertops are finished work surfaces. Their long-term appearance depends on everyday use as well as the protective system on the concrete.
Clean spills promptly
Food, oil, wine, cleaners and other materials should not be left sitting on the surface. Blot spills, clean with a compatible mild cleaner and avoid leaving harsh chemicals in contact with the finish.
Use a cutting board
Do not use the finished concrete as the cutting surface. Knives can damage protective finishes and cutting directly on the countertop is unnecessary wear.
Use trivets or heat protection
Hot cookware and appliances can create concentrated heat. Use appropriate heat protection rather than assuming every sealer or finish has the same heat tolerance.
Avoid aggressive scrubbers and chemicals
Abrasive pads, harsh cleaners and strong solvents can affect the protective finish even when the concrete underneath is structurally fine.
The protective finish determines maintenance
Different countertop systems can have different maintenance requirements. If you are unsure what was used on an existing countertop, ask before applying a new coating, wax or sealer.
