What this project shows

This covered patio has a gray slate-textured surface with scored rectangular lines and a brick perimeter. The detail view shows its actual texture and the relationship between the pattern and the border.

Design takeaway

Ashlar-style layouts work best when the pattern scale makes sense for the overall area and the lines land intentionally at walls, edges and transitions.
